Show Review: Chaos & Carnage Tour 2018

The Chaos & Carnage Tour kicked off last week featuring some of extreme metal's most legendary and influential bands. The first year of what will hopefully be an annual tour is a brief but goddamn powerful three week run across the US headlined by the almighty Carnifex! To kick off the show, the band have brought out some extremely talented bands to really set the energy in the place off, including Shadow of Intent, Buried Above Ground, Spite and Archspire. The dudes in Widowmaker join the tour on 4/25 as Shadow of Intent drops off, but Soulless Cult was lucky enough to catch Shadow of Intent play the NYC date at the Gramercy Theatre on April 18th! We were also super fortunate enough to be t

Mental Cruelty - Purgatorium

Mental Cruelty have worked hard over the past few years to make a name for themselves in this music scene, and now, more and more you hear their name come up across social media. The band have managed to capture both a great fan base as well - and they've done it all with just a few singles and an EP. The patience of fans worldwide has more than paid off: in January of this year, Mental Cruelty finally released their debut full length record Purgatorium, and it has quickly become one of the most loved, respected, and downright fucking best records to come into our hands in a while now. Purgatorium gathers elements from all over the heavy metal spectrum - you'll find elements of death metal,

Horror Club: A Quiet Place

John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place" smashed the box office this past weekend as it debuted in theaters around the country, and it's incredible to see a horror film get so much love in its opening weekend. Krasinski - who most are probably familiar with as Jim Halpert from "The Office" - directed and stars in the new film alongside his real-life wife Emily Blunt who play the father and mother to three beautiful children living a terrifying life. The year is 2020, and the world has become overrun and humanity destroyed by some sort of alien/demon predators who are blind, however their sense of hearing is seemingly unmatched. They can hear the slightest sound from incredibly far away, which causes

Within Destruction - Deathwish

One of the years most anticipated albums finally made its way to heavy music fans last week as "Deathwish" by Slovenia's Within Destruction was released. The album is the follow-up to the band's incredibly successful and goddamn brilliant 2016 release "Void," which really caught the attention of fans from all over the extreme music spectrum. Deathwish was super anticipated, especially for me, since Within Destruction have such a unique way of delivering their harsh, damning slam and deathcore-based elements over pure brutal death metal. Within Destruction absolutely dominated every expectation I had for this release, and then some - Deathwish is a fucking beast to be reckoned with. "External

Horror Club: Terrifier (Spoilers)

Terrifier has quickly become one of the horror genres most hyped and praised releases of the past few weeks as the film has been getting into the hands of more and more horror fans each day. Although it was debuted back in 2016, the film was just recently released to the masses after being picked up by the fine folks at Dread Central and Epic Pictures, who released the film back on March 15th. Terrifier is the feature length film based off the character Art the Clown from 2013's All Hallows Eve, and it brings new life to the horrifying clown as he descends upon the city on Halloween night, thirsty to torture and kill anybody who manages to cross his path. Before even going any further, let m
