Horror movies where giant animals terrorize communities are usually pretty freakin' sweet, and even when they're really bad, they're usually pretty good. One of these movies I've been meaning to watch for forever - CRAWL - hit Prime Video recently so I was reminded to finally sit down and watch it. And man, was this film even better than I thought it was going to be. The premise to the film - as with many of these types of movies - is very simple, but with quality special effects, wild twists and turns, and some crazy life or death situations, you can take a very simple story and turn it into something spectacular. And that's just what writers Michael and Shawn Rasmussen and director Alexand

31 Weeks to Halloween: Son of Dracula (1943)

The horror that is DRACULA returns... to terrify a countryside... to curse and destroy even what it loves! As of today, we're officially eighteen weeks into our 31 Weeks to Halloween countdown, and I was super stoked to check out this weeks movie: Son of Dracula from 1943! Eighteen weeks in, and we've only seen two Dracula movies so far, those being the classic Lugosi Dracula film and Dracula's Daughter, which looking back at it now, is one of the more drab films in the Universal Monsters series so up until this point compared to some of the other unbelievably fantastic films we've seen since. So it feels like it's about damn time we got around to another Dracula film, so Son of Dracula is a

Ghosts of War

Paranormal movies - next to slashers - are probably the most fun movies to immerse yourself in. Stories can get a little crazy, the ghosts can get terrifying - it's an all around screamfest. Over the last decade or so, we've been so many paranormal films get released, and there's been a lot of good ones, but there's also been a ton of duds. It's been a while since we've had a good one, but it's been even longer since we've had a phenomenal one. New to streaming comes one that blows all ghost movies in the last few years out of the water: GHOSTS OF WAR. I knew this film was going to kick some ass by the trailer, but man was I not prepared for the dark journey this film takes you down. Ghosts

A Deadly Legend

Camp Crystal Lake and Camp Arawak are two of the most popular summer camps in horror history; every summer we seem to have new camps popping up in the genre. Campgrounds make for a great location for horror films because of how easily things can go dark and twisted; seclusion, isolation, desolation, where no one can see you and no one can hear you scream. This summer, we've gotten a new horror that is based on a summer campground - A DEADLY LEGEND - where there's a sinister history buried in the earth and a gateway that begs to be opened. The Pilgrim Lake Campground in A Deadly Legend has plenty of its own dark secrets, but after watching the movie with such high hopes, I wish the film staye

31 Weeks to Halloween: Phantom of the Opera (1943)

As we enter into another weekend - and we get one step closer to our favorite day of the year, Halloween - we finally made it to one of Universal's most popular classic horror films, The Phantom of the Opera! The film blends music and terror to create this awesome atmosphere inside of the Paris Opera House where the film takes place. Released in 1943 - in technicolor! - the film was directed by Arthur Lubin (one of Universal's leading directors of his time) and was loosely based on the novel by Gaston Leroux, as well as the 1925 silent horror adaption which had Lon Chaney (father to Lon Chaney Jr aka the Wolf Man). Just by the looks of it, the film was a massive undertaking for its time and

Ouija Shark

Summer 2020 is in full force, and even though a lot of people are still boarded up in their homes, there's plenty of beach bums hitting the shores soaking in the sunshine. We're still a couple weeks out until Shark Week hits shores starting on August 9th, but what's a better way to prepare for the festivities than with a shark horror, and this time we're gonna need a bigger board as we summon the OUIJA SHARK! The film was written by David A. Lloyd and directed by Scott Patrick and has been gaining a reputation for being abysmally bad, so of course I had to check it out for myself and find out if people were just being harsh or if the shark really bites. I came across the trailer for this mov

The Scrotum

One of the great things about the horror genre is the ability to turn anything into a bloodthirsty killing machine. Think about how many films we have where inanimate either come to life or lead to murder: Rubber (a tire), Killer Sofa (a chair), Attack of the Killer Donuts (donuts!), Poltergeist (a tv set), The Stuff (ice cream)... the list goes on and on. While we're at it, we've already all seen Teeth about a vagina with some dental issues, but we've finally gotten the movie we didn't know we needed, but now cannot live without: THE SCROTUM! The film was directed by Troy Prater and features - you guessed it - a killer scrotum eager to slaughter anybody and everybody in its sight. Obviously

31 Weeks to Halloween: Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943)

Prepare for the shock of your life! Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man to overwhelm you with horror twice as grim! Soulless Cult's 31 Weeks to Halloween countdown has officially crossed the halfway point, which means we are well underway on the road to Halloween 2020! And what's a better film to celebrate the sixteenth film in our countdown than the legendary meeting of two of Universal's greatest monsters in Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man! It's the match-up everyone didn't know they wanted and now cannot live without! The film not only brings two of our favorite monsters together on screen, but two of the finest actors in the classic horror game together as Lon Chaney Jr. reprises his role as

Girls Just Wanna Have Blood (Teenage Bloodsuckin' Bimbos)

If you're a fan of cheesy, over-the-top, tacky horror comedies filled with sex, blood, and hot vampire girls... boy, do we have just the movie for you. GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE BLOOD has all of this, and plenty more during its hilarious and sexy runtime. The film was originally called "Teenage Bloodsuckin' Bimbos" which you will hear referenced to in the movie and in the song during the credits, but the title is ridiculously appropriate for what you'll get with this movie: hot teen bimbos who suck blood and feast on the living! The living, in this case, is mostly bikers that are lured to the house, drank and killed using the girls incredibly good looks and teasing language. Girls Just Wanna Hav

31 Weeks to Halloween: The Mummy's Tomb (1942)

Spawned from the depths of doom comes the most fearful monster of the ages to strike with paralyzing terror the despoilers of ancient tombs! Saturdays have become the best day of the week for me, because as part of our 31 Weeks to Halloween countdown, watching all of these Universal Monster movies has been bringing back so much nostalgia and appreciation for the films we've seen before, and a passion for the ones we haven't. This week's film is a new one for me: The Mummy' Tomb from 1942 directed by Harold Young. This film is the first of three sequels to the 1940 film The Mummy's Hand which, if you read our review, was an absolute spectacular film with a fantastic story and production. But

Infection (Infección)

The whole Covid-19 situation going on in the world today has many people worried about viruses, infections and death - for obvious reasons. Before this whole thing started - throughout all of 2019 - a Spanish zombie film made its way to horror fans simply called "Infection" that kinda dictates a lot of what is going on today, minus the whole flesh-consuming zombie hordes running around the countryside. But the film has a rabies virus outbreak in Venezuela that quickly transforms the cities from that of the living to that of the dead. Infection was written by Flavio Pedota and Yeimar Cabral and directed by Pedota and is a seriously fast paced run through Venezuela with some of the fastest, mo
