Death Dreamer Vol. 1 + Giveaway!

If you've been following Carnifex vocalist Scott Ian Lewis on social media over the last two years, you'd know that he's been hard at working crafting his latest project outside of the band: DEATH DREAMER VOL. 1, the 54 page graphic novel filled with blood, murder, and lies. Lewis' past work as a funeral director - watching and helping strangers cope with loss - has clearly shaped a part of who he is today, and those feelings he experienced were brought not only to the band but now to Death Dreamer, the first in which will hopefully be a long-lasting series of adult true crime graphic novels! After successfully crowd-funding the project, the novel - written by Scott Ian Lewis and illustrated by the insanely talented Christian Dibari - has finally been hitting the hands of fans from all over, and the consensus is this is the beginning of something fucking sick.

In Lewis' own words, Death Dreamer summed up:

Troy Graves is no stranger to death. Now that he's an embalmer at Sunset Hills Mortuary he's never been closer to it. But behind the closed doors of the prep room all is not right. Bodies seem to appear and disappear mysteriously. And he's not the only one who's noticed... Following the horrific death of a City Councilman, Troy finds himself drawn back into a violent existence he'd kill to forget.

As soon as the crowdfunding page went live, I knew I had to grab a copy. And truth be told, I'm not big on comics/graphic novels in the slightest, having only held a select few in my hands in my entire life. But being a fan of Carnifex for years and years, there was no doubt in my mind that anything singer Scott Ian Lewis put his name on would be nothing short of amazing, and boy was I damn right. Death Dreamer pulls you in from the very moment you set eyes on the cover which was designed by Chris Shehan: the grim image of Troy Graves with a skull in his hands, a gnarly red coffin behind him, with tombstones by his feet and big bloody "Death Dreamer" text along the top... does this thing get any more fucking sick?! If that doesn't scream read me! right at your very soul, maybe you're not looking at the same book I am! The imagery doesn't end there; filling the pages of the novel are shocking, mind-blowing, and graphic images one can only expect from a dude like Lewis. He's been very vocal about it from the start of this project: this novel isn't for the faint hearted, it's filled with adult themes and illustrations that will intrigue and disturb, and we can't get enough of it. From the colors used to the dialogue and even the locations throughout the story, Death Dreamer will grab you by the fucking pit of your gut and drag you right in.

Pre-ordering for copies/bundles of Death Dreamer Vol. 1 has already ended, but Scott Ian Lewis has announced that within the next week or so, his online store will be going live where you may order yourself a copy of the novel directly from him in case you missed out the first time around.
